Activities and sights in Lhasa are just suggestions and can be changed. In order to give our customers the most freedom possible, we do not have a rigid daily schedule for you. You will have to freedom to see and do the things you want to do in each of the places you go to. Your guide will give you suggestions, but you will make the final decision on what you see and do in each place.

**In the high season, it is very difficult to get train tickets to Lhasa. It is much easier getting train tickets leaving Lhasa. From Xining, there is a daily flight to Lhasa. For the flight to Lhasa, please add around Y1125 (could be slightly more of slighty less depending on air ticket prices) per person including the airport pick up in Lhasa to the tour price. We can assist you in getting train tickets leaving Lhasa going to Xining, Lanzhou, Xi’an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.**

**Getting train tickets from June through early October are extremely difficult to get. We have a 100% success rate in getting train tickets to Lhasa, however sometimes we cannot get them for the exact date you are planning to depart because they are sold out and impossible to get. In this rare event, we will get you train tickets either for the next day or following day. We will do everything possible to ensure that you get on the train on the date you originally plan, but in case we can’t we will do our best to get you on the train as soon as possible.

Soft sleeper tickets are extremely difficult to get. Many soft sleeper tickets are reserved for government and military officials. If we are able to get soft sleeper tickets, the price will be Y460 more per person. If we cannot get soft sleeper tickets, we will get hard sleeper tickets. Despite having an uncomfortable sounding name, hard sleeper berths are actually quite comfortable and are used by most foreign travelers to Tibet.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TRAVEL IN TIBET:

Travel regulations in Tibet change often and are unpredictable. Sometimes, though not often, monasteries, roads or small towns close without any warning meaning that small changes will need to be made to your itinerary. Permit prices change, fuel prices surge, train tickets become difficult to obtain and additional taxes sometime come up which mean we may have to slightly adjust the price of your trip. All prices given are estimates and could change slightly before your departure date. Usually we have no problem getting train tickets to Lhasa, but occasionally they are sold out soon after they go on sale to the public. In that case we have ways of getting the train tickets still, but we have to pay additional surcharges and handling fees, which will add between Y50 and Y250 per person to the total price. We will always do our best to keep the price as close to the estimate as possible.

There are 2 required tickets for the Everest Nature Preserve that the customer is responsible to pay. The first is a Y400 vehicle entrance fee. The second is a Y180 entrance fee per person. The Everest Nature Preserve is the only place where the customers will be responsible to pay for the guide’s entrance ticket. All other places for the guide will be free. Our vehicles are only permitted to go to the “Tent City” located about 4kms past Rongbhu Monastery. From this “Tent City”, the only way to travel the remaining 3kms to Everest Base Camp is to take an environmentally safe bus that costs Y25 per person. This Y25 is not included in your tour price. You will also be responsible to pay for your guides Y25 bus fare as well. Your guide will need to accompany you to Base Camp.

Entrance fees to monasteries and temples are not included in your tour price. Entrance fees usually range from Y20 per person to Y80 per person. The Potala Palace costs Y100 per person to enter. The entrance fee to Nam Lake is Y80 per person and the entrance fee to Yamdrok Lake is Y40 per person.

Hotel prices vary in Lhasa from 5 star hotels to budget guesthouses. In Lhasa, we recommend staying at the 3 star Yak Hotel, one of Lhasa's most famous and well run hotels. The Yak Hotel offers nice double rooms with private bathrooms for Y260 per night as well as nice, clean dorm style rooms for between Y40 and Y50 per person per night. In Gyantse and Shigatse there are also hotels offering nice double rooms with attached bathrooms for between Y200 and Y275 per night as well as dorm style rooms for between Y35 and Y50 per person per night. In the small Tibetan towns, clean Tibetan style guesthouses are available for between Y35 and Y50 per person per night.
